Merry CHRISTmas

Well since I am propped up with a sprained ankle this morning I started thinking about all that has happened this year. I am now 15 and enjoying every minute. Another dance semester has come and gone and it was amazing! And the biggest news...drumroll please... My Mama is getting married! Yes it's true she is marring our pastor after dating for 4 years. I am really happy for them and I am looking forward to being a family. They are getting married the first of January. The theme is black and white with accents of red. It is going to be so beautiful! They decided to have their children as their attendants so the three girls are wearing black dresses and the three boy will wear tuxedos. I have a beautiful dress it is one shouldered and floor length. I love it so much! I am really excited for them.

I have been thinking about how people have been saying Happy Holidays or Seasons Greeting instead of Merry Christmas and this really bothers me since Christ is the reason for the season. Tell me what your thoughts are on this and let's put CHRIST back in Christmas.

My next to days are going to be crazy busy with family and friends. Tomorrow we will be having brunch at my new sister and brother-in-laws house. I can't wait to play with my nephew Titus. Then tomorrow night we will be having candle light service at church then we will be coming home to play games with some friends and family. Christmas morning James, Katy, Mama and I will open presents together. Then my Aunt , cousin and meme will come down to our house to open presents again. After all the presents are opened a lot more people will show up for lunch and games. Then I will have one nights sleep before the wedding stuff starts speeding up and mom and I will be running like chickens with our heads cut off. Anyhow thats my holiday run down. I hope your Christmas is wonderful and blessed with much joy.

The excitment of life in the country...

I found this adventure that happened to Mama and I a several months ago. I wrote it down and just now came back across it and I thought I would share it with y'all.

The night was just like many others around my house. Mama and I were ready for bed but decided to read our wonderful book The Thorn by Beverly Lewis. Well we read longer than planned and about midnight my basset hound, Bessy Hulu started barking. I didn't think much about it because she likes to bark but then I realized that wasn't her normal bark. So I went to see what she was barking at and low and behold it was an armadillo. If y'all know anything about armadillos you know that you don't want them. I told Mama and then grab a flash light. Mama told me to keep track of it while she goes to get a hoe and shovel. So me and Bessy follow it to the back yard where Mama is waiting with our weapons. We take a swing at it with a shovel and hoe and squeal when it jumps a good foot or two in the air. I would like to say that it was a very stupid armadillo because I am pretty sure that if some one was hitting me I would go into the field and hide but, no it was almost like it wanted to die the way it kept so close to us. After a few more hits, jumps and squeals the armadillo runs to the front yard. Bessy and I follow it and I'm told not to lose it while my Mama goes back inside for a gun. Thank goodness Bessy was with me because I would have lost the thing several times without her barking and running along with it. Did y'all know that those little things can run extremely fast. It finally stopped to dig beside a tree nearly at the end of our long drive way so I held Bessy so she wouldn't chase it any more. Then here comes Mama with a gun, she took aim and pulled the trigger... nothing, she tried again still nothing. So she walked back to get a different  . Mama comes back with the new gun but now she cant see the armadillo because it moved into a big bush. She thinks she sees it and shoots. The gun fires thank goodness but she misses which bothered her because at the shooting range she shot better than my brother and a cop. Any ways we hear it scurry off in the opposite direction and decide to head back to the house upset that it was still alive.

So when I hear people say that there is nothing to do out here where I live I just chuckle to myself and think of all the adventures I have had. Hey that sounds like a new show 'Adventures in the Country' well at least it could be a new post for me.

Prepairing for a party...

Today we prepared for my Auntie Ronda's 56th birthday party/graduation party. She got her masters in nursing. I am so proud of her and all her accomplishments. I think it is so amazing that he went back to college.

It was one of those days that was wonderful but went by so fast.  I got up at 7am and mowed and then pulled weeds. That is not my cup of tea but it had to be done. Then I swept both porches and the side walk. Even if I don't really like doing that stuff I must say it is very gratifying when you can look at your yard and say 'wow that looks good and I did it'. Any how I showered, got dressed and then read some out of my amazing book The Courtship by Gilbert Moore. Now comes the fun part cooking. I made this divine salsa. I didn't really didn't follow a recipe but here is the gist of it.

1 can of corn
1 carrot grated
2 bell peppers (I used red and green but the color doesn't matter)
1 bunch of cilantro
caned or fresh jalapenos to taste
the juice of 1 lemon
2 mangoes
Mix chill and serve with chips.

I also made homemade pop corn. It was so good. My mama made peach smoothies which were very yummy. At the party we also had ice cream, a big fruit tray, and some other nibble foods. It was a great  party.

Some of my cousins and we played a game of uno, jumped on my trampoline, had relay races, and talked about prank calls and other silly stuff. We had a great time while all the adaults visited. Oh and playing flip the bacon or crack the egg with 5 people on a trampoline at one time can get painful I wouldn't advise it.

Well today was fun but I am tired and will be getting up at 4am to leave for Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with mama, my brother James and his friend Jordan. But that is another story for another time.

Another day in the life of Dayna...

So here I am sitting in my room on the floor with my basset hound Bessy Hulu. She is all curled up on my pink blanket looking so cute in her purple floral bandanna. She is freshly washed thus the reason she is allowed inside but only for a little while. I also cleaned her ears, brushed her teeth and clipped her nails. She is a sweety pie but a little bit spoiled.

I'm listening to One Direction. I love their music. It makes me want to dance and sing which I do a lot of. Plus the guys that are in the band are pretty cute and they have an adorable English accent.

I had a great day, I slept in and cleaned my room. Then I washed lots of dishes and started a load of laundry. After I hung the clothes out on the line I cleaned my bathroom . While I don't really enjoy any of those chores I am greatful that I am able to do them. That I have hands and feet and an able body. It is such a blessing and there are so many times I take it for granted. I encourage you to count your blessings even the ones like being able to wash dishes or clean your bathroom.

And now for a blonde joke.

A blonde walks into a bank in New York City and asks for the Loan officer. She says she's going to Europe on business for two weeks and Needs to borrow $5,000.

The bank officer says the bank will need some kind of security for the loan, so the blonde hands over the keys to a new Mercedes Benz SL 500.

The car is parked on the street in front of the bank, she has the title and everything checks out. The bank agrees to accept the car collateral for the loan.

The bank's president and its officers all enjoy a good laugh at the blond for using a $110,000 Benz as collateral against a $5,000 loan.

An employee of the bank then proceeds to drive the Benz into the bank's underground garage and parks it there. Two weeks later, the blonde returns, repays the $5,000 and the interest, which comes to $15.41.

The loan officer says, "Miss, we are very happy to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a little puzzled. While you were away, we checked you out and found that you are a multimillionaire.

What puzzles us is, why would you bother to borrow $5,000?"

The blonde replies, "Where else in New York City can I park my Car for two weeks for only $15.41 and expect it to be there when I return?"

Finally... a smart blonde joke.

There was a blonde who found herself sitting next to a Lawyer on an airplane. The lawyer just kept bugging the blonde wanting her to play a game of intelligence. Finally, the lawyer offered her 10 to 1 odds, and said every time the blonde could not answer one of his questions, she owed him $5, but every time he could not answer hers, he'd give her $50.00. The lawyer figured he could not lose, and the blonde reluctantly accepted. The lawyer first asked, "What is the distance between the Earth and the nearest star?" Without saying a word the blonde handed him $5. then the blonde asked, "What goes up a hill with 3 legs and comes back down the hill with 4 legs?" Well, the lawyer looked puzzled. He took several hours, looking up everything he could on his laptop and even placing numerous air-to-ground phone calls trying to find the answer. Finally, angry and frustrated, he gave up and paid the blonde $50.00 The blonde put the $50 into her purse without comment, but the lawyer insisted, "What is the answer to your question?" Without saying a word, the blonde handed him $5.

Okay thats all for today I hope your day was as great as mine. Oh and Happy Birthday to my Auntie Ronda. Love ya lots!

What summer is to me...

Summer is all about friendship and good times. Its taking risks and sleeping in. Going on vacations with family and friends. Listening to music and singing like know one is listening. Getting up and dancing for all I'm worth and not caring if I look silly because my only concern is about having fun. Having sleep overs with my best friend. Going to bed late because I stayed up to talk about my plans and dreams with my beautiful mama. Summer is getting a tan or in my case a sunburn while swimming. Debating whether or not I should write another song or start a novel or both. Cooking and baking yummy food. Its beautiful colors and wild designs. Reading a couple of great novels. Babysitting adorable kids. Watching a variety of movies and listening to Adventures In Odyssey. Painting my nails and doing crazy hair styles. Its about relaxing and just being yourself. Summer is all about the three F's: Family, Friends and Fun . Summer goes too fast and takes too long coming back. My hope is that your summer has been and will be as wonderful as my has been so far. I am looking forward to tomorrow and the surprises it holds.

All about my week...

Last Monday I finished helping my bosom friend Lauren get packed to move to North Dakota and after a fond and a little teary farewell we left their house. We won't be able to see them for a very long time. I miss her and her family so much!

Tuesday I made lunch for one of Mama's friends. It was her birthday. We had zucchini enchiladas, salad and homemade coconut brownies and chocolate sauce. After lunch she asked if I could help her pick out some clothes for a wedding that she was attending the next weekend. We went to Cold Water Creek, Charming Charlies, White & Black, and many other stores. Afterwards she took me out to eat at Ihop. We had a great time and didn't get home till 8:30ish.

Wednesday I spent the night at Meme's. We watched  movies and I help her clean her house some. We always have a good time together.

Thursday I ate lunch with Meme and just spent some time with her. Then she took me to my voice lesson. When I got there my teacher Ms. Bree said that she was happy with the progress that I am making. I'm a little sad because this week will be my last lesson for the summer.

Friday my Mama and I just enjoyed being together. I think I have one of the best Mamas ever. (I know that I am a little prejudist, but I can't help it). I enjoy being with her so much.

Sabbath or Saturday we rested and then baked our sourdough bread. Later we got ready for a wedding and headed off. It started late and ended late but I had a good time with the people I was with.

Sunday we went to church and then ate at our church potluck. After that I played a game of Monopoly with Jared. It was a good game and a great day.

Memorial Day we slept in and just had a wonderful time together all day long. That night Mama and I went to Meme's and watched a movie. with her and Auntie Ronda. I spent the night with Meme and we had a fun time.

Tuesday I ate breakfast with Meme and she brought me home. I cleaned up the house some and cooked some yummy food. I love cooking and baking so much but, I'm not very fond of the clean up. *sigh* I guess that comes with the territory.

Well that gets us caught up to today and I don't know what will happen. I guess I will just have to wait.

So much has happened...

Wow only two weeks have gone by since I posted last yet so much has happened. I had an amazing dance recital. I did two ballet and two tap routines and also a monologue and a song, all in two hours. After that my Mama, Meme, Mrs. B, James, Jordan, Katy and I all went to Braums and had ice cream. I got two bouquets of flowers, one of pink roses and one of an assortment of all kinds of flowers. They where all so beautiful. I love fresh flowers so when I got two bouquets I was so excited and happy.

I also planned Mothers Day for our family. We had haystacks, a chocolate pie, and a fruit tart. The day was awesome and even though I'm not a mom it was a great day. After we ate we played a game of Rummy Cube and Blokus and as is custom we visited for while before we left. It was a great day! How was your Mothers Day?

And now for the biggest thing and the saddest is definitely that my very best friend Lauren is moving to South Dakota. She is an amazing girl and we are alot alike. So as you an imagine I'm very sad:'(  She is moving this Tuesday and we are trying to do as much together as possible before she leaves. We are going to there house tomorrow to help them pack. I already miss her and she is still here but Lauren and I have made up our minds to not be sad because "For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heaven" Ecclesiastes 3:1. So we are going to write letters, text and call each other. Do any of you guys have long distance friendships? Please tell me about it. Hope you have a great rest of the week.

I Forgot My Camera...Again

Honestly I could just hit myself sometimes when those picture perfect moments come and I am with out my camera. Any who yesterday when I went to tap class I was greeted by my biggest fan Mimi. Upon greeting me she promptly asked if she could do my make up (please keep in mind she is 5), I could hardly say no to asuch an adorable face. ( See this is when I need a camera to show how adorable she is). Well after powder, eye shadow(which is her favorite part), glittery lip gloss, and and some more powder she declared " You look just like a princess." And she really did do a good job. Well I gave her a big hug told her I loved her and said she could come home and live with me anytime she wanted to. Although I don't think her Mama or Daddy would like me any more. Well after a voice lesson, audition prep, and tap class she asked me to walk her over to her parents work. Well I asked her mom and she said that was okay. So we walked 3 blockes there and I waited with her till my Mama came to pick me up. While I waited we drew together I taught her how to draw a monkey and an elephant. Then my Mama came and I had to go home I told Mimi goodbye and I left. On the way home we stoped at my Granmother's (who we happen to also cal Meme) house. We visited for a while and I asked what they wanted for luch on Mother's Day and they decided on (drum roll please) haystacks and an ice cream bar. I am so excited mostly bcause ice cream is my favorite dessert ever! Any ways we got home and went to bed and that was my day. How was your day? I hope it was as great as mine. See you next time in blogger world. Love ya
